Day of Surgery
ONE week before surgery
- You may and probably should take any of these if they are currently prescribed to you:
- Heart Medication
- Blood Pressure Medication
- Anti-Seizure Medication
- Insulin
- DO NOT take Water Pills… in addition to anything you have previously stopped taking in preparation for surgery (remember this includes aspirin, motrin, coumadin, warfarin)
Bring your driver’s license and all insurance cards with you. If your insurance company requires a co-pay, please bring check or credit card.
Please take a shower or bath the day of the procedure.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that is big enough to accommodate a large bandage after surgery.
Do not wear any jewelry, make up or cologne. Do not bring any valuables with you.
If your child is having surgery, feel free to bring a favorite stuffed animal or security blanket for added comfort.
When you arrive you will have to change into a surgical gown. Your belongings will be placed in a secured locker.
You will meet your surgeon before the procedure as well as the anesthesia provider.
You may not drive after surgery.
